Assessment

Academic Assessment is an important part of teaching and learning process. Hence, the Assessment pattern has been developed after conducting research of various international standards together with a study of the NCERT guidelines. The stress is laid on maximizing learning in the classroom, inducing a spirit to use the knowledge in real life situations.

PLAY GROUP – PREP:-

The academic year is divided into two terms and each term has two assessment reports. Each assessment report is based on the continuous evaluation based on class activities, worksheets and assignments on day to day basis.

CLASSES I & II:

The academic year is divided into two terms and each term has two assessment reports.There shall be no formal examinations for classes I & II. The students will be assessed on the basis of day to day performance and regular classroom observations. The assessments would comprise of worksheets, assignments, recitation, reading, group discussions, dictation, project works, quizzes, extempore, multiple choice questions (MCQs), interactions, short answer questions (SAQs), field projects etc.

CLASSES III and above:

Students of classes III and above will follow a uniform assessment scheme with a two-semester system that will include half yearly and annual examinations.Every semester comprises of periodic assessments and Half Yearly / Annual examination.Assessments will be carried out separately for scholastic (academic) and non-scholastic (co-curricular) activities.

1. Periodic Test (PT)

Regular PERIODIC ASSESSMENT (PA) shall be conducted as scheduled in the Almanac. Each term shall have ONE round of PAs.
✔ Periodic Test is a Pen and Paper Assessment which is to be conducted by the subject teacher. The question paper contains a balance mix of VSA/SA/LA to effectively test the students.
✔ The gradually increasing portion of contents would prepare students acquire confidence for appearing the Half Yearly and Annual examinations.

2. Notebook Submission

Notebook submission a part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topics being taught in the classroom as well as assignments.
o This also addresses the critical aspect of regularity, punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.

3. Subject Enrichment Activities

These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development.
(The HALF YEARLY EXAMINATION and ANNUAL EXAMINATION will be held as scheduled in the Almanac.)

4. Co-Scholastic Activities

These activities will be graded on a 5 – point scale (A-E)
1. Work Education - Work education is a distinct curricular area for students for participation in social, economic and welfare activities.
2.Art Education - Art Education constitutes an important area of curricular activity for development of wholesome personality of the students.
3.Health & Physical Education - Sports activities of students in the schools create a sense of physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, patriotism, self-sacrifice and health care.

5.Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values)

o Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character.
✔ Sincerity, good behaviour and values develop strength and foster unity and co-operation.
✔ Discipline will be graded on a 5 – point scale (A-E)
The student’s performance will be evaluated on a continuous basis rather than only through exams. The subject skill grade along with the work habit grade will count towards the overall grade awarded to the student.
